This update ended - as for others - my Internet access, and removed good old
games (not important - but what else was lost?).
Internet came back after uninstalling ZoneAlarm and reinstalling drivers for
LAN and wireless. Wireless still out.
Now using Windows firewall - but!!.
Some of my collegues using VPN clients (my responsibility) went down too.
Are Microsoft going to fix all theese errors by a new update?

Why do Microsoft have to fix a problem caused by Zone Alarm, by the way Zone
Alarm have already put out a fix for the problem have you applied it ?

This may be a dumb blonde question, but I've got the same problem and I've
updated Zone Alarm, but the update still interrupts my internet access. The
only way I can get it back is to do a restore.

What Zone Alarm fix am I not finding?

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

Support for Windows Update:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/wusupport

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related
to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number.
For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary
for security update support issues, visit the International Support Web
site: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx

For enterprise customers, support for security updates is available through
your usual support contacts.

Reset your ZA settings and double check that your ZA privacy control is OFF
(cookies, adblocking and mobile control)

1.) Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys together
2.) Right click on the ZA icon near your clock
3.) Choose 'Reset' from the box that comes up
4.) Choose Yes on the Reset Settings dialog box
5.) When prompted, choose OK to restart your system
6.) Follow the on screen configuration prompts after reboot

I'll try the microsoft site on Monday. I completely Un-installed all of Zone
Alarm and removed the July 9 update. Now I can receive e-mail in Outlook
Express and get on the secure Internet sites but CANNOT send e-mail in
Outlook Express (error Number 0x800CCC79). Any way to fix this too?

Do some more reading Cindy. Start here:
http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cessIssue.html

The vulnerability addressed by KB951748 *is* a big deal! You want it
installed as soon as you've upgraded ZA. See
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/secur...et_tues_1.html

Want to consider other, more highly-rated firewalls?

If your OE issues persist, please begin a new thread in this newsgroup =>

Dear Joan

You might suffer from lack of knowledge. No - Zonealarm and Windows Firewall
DID NOT cause the problem, Microsoft did.

Thanks to the others.
