Need to update XP after clean install. Original restore CD was over 3 years old.
Does it make any difference which order I install the updates in?
Or can I just take them as they come on the screen?

regards

Ian;
It does not really make a difference but this will save time.
1. Install SP 1 first, #1 on this link:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/spackins.htm
Reboot
2. Install Windows XP Rollup 1, #22 on the same link
Reboot
3. Install remaining updates no more then 3 at a time rebooting
between each group.
There will be fewer since the Rollup and Service Pack are installed.

Still trying to reply to this weird and user-unfriendly newsgroup, if this one doesn't go I'll give up.

Thanks for your reply.

What's weird and unfriendly about it? One problem is that you are using
the web interface to access the newsgroup. That system is clunky and
hard to use/search for messages. Try using a dedicated newsreader, like
outlook express which comes with windows.
