Windows Update Agent 7.4.7600.226

My Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium has failed to
load the subject update on 20 different occasions since 13Nov09. The "Error
Details" is Code 80073712, which is nothing more than a general error code
with no specific fixes recommended. Anybody have an idea as to how to
resolve this issue?

What 'subject' are we talking about, BigRedWingFan?
Obviously it isn't windows update and therefore it looks very much like a
Dell-related affair. That's probably why windows doesn't have a specific
recommendation and you may want to turn to them for an answer.
Sorry for not being a bigger help.

Harry.

The subject of the thread.

Thanks for the hick-up.
By now I've seen PA Bear's reply and that you received an answer already.
The reason I didn't think it was a windows update problem was, that there
weren't 20 updates in the given time period (less than half, I believe).
Just tried to be helpful and there's no need to be coy about it.
We'll try to do better the next time.

Ahhh, that's where you were confused, Harry. Your reading comprehension
failed you. I never said there were "20 updates in the given time period",
I said "failed to load the subject update on 20 different occasions since
13Nov09".

Thanks for trying at least, it was more than any of the so-called MVPs other
than Pa Bear did. It's times like these that I really miss the old ME
group, at least there people wouldn't treat you like an idiot when you had a
problem. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

As a consolation prize I have found this for you, BigRedWingsFan:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/M..._24105319.html

Let us know if it was of any help to you.
And you never said if PA Bear's suggestion was useful to you?

Harry.
