Windows Update All Patches

Hi,

I have had a scan on the existing answers and have found one but it doesnt
remedy my problem.

I have to rebuild regularly and have an SP2 disk for XP Pro.

I am tired of waiting on all the patches. I know some people suggest going
to autopatcher website. This wants P2P software to be used for this before I
can download it. And to be honest, a non MS site I have issues of trust
downloading the files with the patches in. I would prefer a way of getting
them from microsoft in one go.

Is there an alternative to this? I just want to download the file or files
from the Microsoft site and have one small exe file to click and run the
updates from.

Are microsoft going to offer this sometime soon? It would save people all
over the world time.

Security updates are available on ISO-9660 CD image files from the Microsoft Download
Center
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913086

You can also download individual updates from the Catalog and save to be installed later.
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...en/default.asp

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you want, Click
the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to the location where you want the
updates saved to and then Click the "Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

ok cool, once they are downloaded to a file, is it just then a one click to
install them? Does it all do it automatically for you from then on?

Why not integrate SP2 and most of the post-sp2 patches straight into your
Windows XP installation media?

My answer may repeat some of TaurArian's post...

You can download and save all updates for later use - including service
packs. You can even integrate those patches into your Windows XP
installation CD - so if you had to reinstall - you would end up almost
fully-patched right from the beginning.

For service pack 2 in particular:

You can download each update manually - based off the KB Article number,
etc. That way you can back it up/burn a CD of them in case you need them or

You can see the critical (security and other) patches released for a given
month using the following:

At the end of this line you see "ms##-***.mspx" .. If you simply replace ##
with the two-digit year and the *** with the three character month
abbreviation, you will see the list of "critical" and "important" patches
for that month (since it only happens once a month usually, if you check by
the second Tuesday (wait until afternoon) of each month - you should be
fine) - note that future months will not work.
