Windows Update and CPU-load

Hello,

I have a bit older system (PII 366MHz, 324MB Memory) on which I run Win 2000
or WinXP. The system runs quite smooth, but everytime I start Windows Update
and select a search method I have to wait 10-15 Minutes until I could select
the updates I want. During this time my CPU-load is between 98% and 100%.
The systems are fresh and all service packs are installed, too. Does
somebody know what I can do to make Windows Update quicker?

Regards
Th. Balthasar

Hello again,

I tried Windows Update with my main WinXP PC (2400MHz, 1GB Memory) and there
is the same. The CPU load is at 100%. I think this must be a bug in this
application. For doing such a simply job as finding updates, I cannot
imagine that this takes so much CPU load. Or is this no problem at you?

Regards
Thomas
