Windows Update and errormessage 0xC8000158

Hi!

I installed service pack 2 for windows XP prof. It crashed middle of booting
and i got errormessage C000021a. I booted my computer in safemode and made
uninstall to servicepack 2. My computer worked again, but windows update
dosen't. it will give me errormessage like this:

[Error number: 0xC8000158]

Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page. You may find the following resources helpful in resolving the problem:

Any ideas ?

Open the WindowsUpdate.log found in the WINDOWS directory and look
for an error code towards the bottom of the log. Please post back
with that specific error.

You could try to run
sfc /scannow
from Start, Run to ensure necessary system files that are required
to access Windows Update are in place on the system.

But i did like this, and it's working again :-)

> type services.msc then press enter
> Look for the Automatic Updates Service, right click it and choose to stop
> Click start->run
> type %windir%\SoftwareDistribution then press enter
> Open the DataStorage folder and delete its contents.
> Click start->run
> type services.msc
> right click the Automatic Update Service and choose to start
> Now try running the Updates again.

this worked for me! i tried registering some dll's first, and that did not
work, but this did.
