Windows Update and SP2 Update

I STARTED to download the SP2 (what a nightmare on dial-up) and when I wanted
to pause it , there was no longer any pause option available on the windows
update icon. Can anyone help? I see I'm NOT the only one who thinks this an
awfully large, time-consuming and disk space consuming update.

Either order the CD or download from a computer with high speed internet
access and burn to CD.
