I installed a windows update indicated by a yellow shield in my system tray.
It required my computer to be restarted. Once it booted back up an error box
appeared saying something about a .dll either missing or being corrupt and
that I should contact the owner of the .dll to get a new one. I need to
install updates but cant if it will cause these problems. Can anyone help?

Which Windows version are you using and what's the exact wording of
the error message you've received?

I have the same problem...

First: Windows XP Pro

And the exact wording is (translated from Danish):

RTHDCLP.EXE - not allowed movement of system DLL's

The system DLL user32.dll was moved in the memory. The program will not run
correctly. The movement happened because the DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX was using that address area, which otherwise
was reserved for Windows DLL files. You should contact the provider of this
DLL to reveive a new DLL file.

I first updated my Windows on the 4th op April (automatic updates) and as
soon as my computer was rebooted this thing happened. I also had problems
with my bluetooth (stack device not running or something like that). I set my
Windows back one step and got rid of the problem - but naturally the computer
now again kept saying that I had updates to install.

Today (the 8th) I tried again, and the same thing happened. I get the DLL
error again.

The same thing happened to two friends of mine - both also using XP (one
Home and one Pro).

What do we do?

Thanks for any help....

You are not alone with this problem. Go to
HTTP://support.microsoft.com/KB/935448/ for the fix.

Microsoft sticks it to us again.
