I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or has any ideas on how
to get around it. I tried to install the update mentioned in article 822603,
and it seemed to download and install fine, then of course, next is the
restart. Well usually restart means that it is supposed to start up again..,
but nope, not this time. My computer could not boot to windows in any way at
all. I was forced to do a repair install of the OS (WinXP Pro SP1) in order
to get it to boot back up again. It would just get as far as when is ws
supposed to show the welcome screen, but just restarted instead. I managed
to catch a blue screen on one of the restarts, but it flashed too fast to see
it, and I really didn't care too much about what it said because I knew what
had caused my computer to crash in the first place. I just bought a new USB
gamepad, and when I plug in the gamepad, the CPU usage shoots up to 75%-85%,
around there, and stays that way until I unplug the device. The update in
the article was supposed to fix the problem with USB devices causing that,
and I would like to fix the problem instead of sending my gamepad back
because I can't use it.

Thanks

Hi,

You appear to be experiencing the same behavior as myself, perhaps
follow-ups in this thread will help...
