Windows Update/Automatic Updater

I did what Paul suggested - that is, start, run, and "regsvr32 wuaueng.dll"
and a dialogue box appeared which allowed me apparently to restart the
automatic updater. The icon appeared at the bottom of the screen where it
always used to be. However, a message appeared in another screen: "Updates
were unable to be successfully installed. The following updates were not
installed: Update for background intelligent service (BITS) 2.0 and WinHTTP
5.1 (KB842773). This is what originally appeared when I had problems
installing Service Pack 1.

Thanks, Paul for your help. Any more suggestions, anyone?

Hi

Please try this, it might fix your problem:

Go to
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#C...Service_Pack_2

Look for fixdb.bat under "Error 0x800710D9 Unable to read from
or write to the database". Download and run it.
