Hi,

On Windows 2000 Server, IE6/SP1.

IE runs okay EXCEPT trying to open Windows Update results in a blank page.
The status line says, "Done with errors on page."

I've tried reinstalling SCRIPTEN 5.6, running IPCONFIG /DNSFLUSH, and
deleting the temporary files.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Try registering the JSCRIPT.DLL
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll
Click OK.

You may also need to re-register the mshtml.dll

Security or Internet acceleration software, such as AtGuard by WRQ or Trend Micro's
PC-cillin by Trend Micro, may prevent the page from displaying correctly

Done, but with errors on page

Tried that. No joy there either.

Thanks, but nothing that solves it there either.

Here's an odd thing:

If I try to go to Windows Update using the Tools menu, I get a blank page
(Done, but with errors on page); ditto if I use the Windows Update Start
Menu icon. Both try to take me to the URL
HTTP://WINDOWSUPDATE.MICROSOFT.COM. But if I manually enter the URL
(HTTP://V4.WINDOWSUPDATE.MICROSOFT.COM/EN/DEFAULT.ASP, the Windows Update
page opens and operates without trouble.

Brilliant! Thanks, that fixed it.

Did you ever figure out why this was all-of-a-sudden necessary? I've got
another server that is otherwise identically configured, but on it I don't
have to change any Trusted-Site-Security to go to Windows Update.

Yes, Registry Mechanic. Hmm--now I'm wondering if running AdAware or Spybot
changed some registry setting.

Yes, you make a good point.

Thanks for your help on this. I wouldn't have gotten it on my own.
