Windows Update Cannot Download Critical Updates

Every time I try downloading critical updates, I get the message that the
download failed. Non-critical updates download and install just fine. I
reloaded this box from scratch and ran across the same problem. I've tried
disabling the XP SP2 firewall, adding trusted site entries, and adding proxy
exception entries. Any ideas? My most recent Windows Update log entries
looks like this:

Could you please download and install the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Support
Tools from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

After this please run the following command from a command prompt.

bitsadmin /reset /allusers

and then try the Windows Update site again.
