Can someone explain the difference between these three listed as choices in
Windows Catalog?

1. Windows XP1
2. Windows XP Home Edition XP1
3. Windows XP Professional XP1

The updates that can be downloaded are really different for each. Why the
difference between Windows XP1 and the other two?

Plus when I do the automatic updates (not from the catalog) it appears to
based on Windows XP1 even though I have the Windows XP Professional XP1.

Hi

At least for security updates, I do not know of any that is different
for WinXP Pro and WinXP Home.

I doubt there is many even in the other categories.

Could you please tell me the KB number on those that you have found is
different for each?

Hi

Re-reading your post, I think I have mis-understood you post a bit.

I never have really understood why MS have those three different
categories and the different listing they show. Hopefully the Windows
XP1 listing covers all updates for both Pro and Home (as I wrote, the
updates available for those two different versions is pretty much the
same).

I see your point and I was thinking the same. I guess what really troubled
me was that when I used the Windows Auto Update (not the catalog) its
suggestions were clearly many more updates based on XP1. So, since I have
Professional XP1, I checked the Windows Catalog site and sure enough, a lot
less updates.

Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter....perhaps the updates are "smart" during
the process of installing and look to see if the update is needed.

Thanks for your ideas.
