Windows Update causes Num Lock to come on at startup

Hello.

I applied the latest Windows Updates to a Sony Vaio laptop and now, every
time at bootup the Num Lock comes on during the Windows XP Pro startup. Did
something get messed up in the registry? Is there a way to turn it off?
Since it is a laptop the user has trouble logging on when they type in their
password; turning off Num Lock allows them to log in fine.

Thanks.

Change the Default NumLock State

The information is provided "as is", it is suggested you research for
yourself before you take any advice - you are the one ultimately
responsible for your actions/problems/solutions. Know what you are
getting into before you jump in with both feet.

Well, I tried that and checked other sites for recommendations but I'm still
not having any luck. The only thing is that I don't believe the people that
have the laptop computer rebooted it after I made the change. They may have
closed the lid on the laptop and let it go into hibernation mode. I just
remotely rebooted it.

I double checked the individual user accounts and found them to already be
set to 0. I did have to change the .default from 2 to 0 the other day based
on your information.

If they contact me back and tell me it still isn't working, is there any
kind of batch file I can use to turn off numlock when the computer gets to
the logon screen?

Thanks.
