Windows Update causes Office Errors

I had 5 windows updates occur overnight and subsequently office applications
unable to "save as".

Any ideas out there?

System restore solved problem, but still curious what caused this.

The update seems to have caused the problem and they'll need to fix it. I had
the same problem and rolled back to before the update and everything is
working again. Then I turned the updates off.. I had it set to notify me but
not do it automatically. I don't even want it to notify me now.. not till
they solve this problem.. I mean, come on.. if it were Wordperfect maybe I
could see it.. but they're destroying the functionality of their own office
software.. jeeez guys.. test first then release... I am NOT a beta tester and
resent being used as one.. LOL

I have been unraveling this bug most of the day. At first I though it was
related to the SharePoint Team Services (KB911701) but that works fine. The
sub-files navigational ability of Explorer/Excell/notepad/word/etc was
disabled by one of the XP security updates. I un-installed them on some of
the affected machines and the fucntionality on the rest was somehow
"magically restored" after about 30 re-boots (& a bunch of other
diaganostics) -- but MS will never concede there was any sort of a problem.
