Windows Update Changes Default From OE to Outlook

Nearly every time there is an update that involves Outlook, which I have on
my XP Service Pack 2 computer, my default e-mail program changes from OE to
Outlook. The Contacts lists also changes from Address Book to Outlook. Is
there a way to stop this from happening? It's a simple fix, I go to IE 6,
Tools, Internet Options, Programs and change the defaults back, but it's
getting tiresome.

Thanks for any help.

Annoying I agree, but nothing can be done about it unfortunately except to change it
back.

No, and this annoyance has been brought up to the Office Outlook team
repeatedly.
Contact Microsoft if this annoys you:

I apologize if I indicated I don't use Outlook. Thanks for the responsive
reply.

To the others that commiserated, thank you, I will contact Microsoft to
express my displeasure. I hope enough others will do the same and maybe
they will reconsider this intrusion.

Phil

You'll be talking to a brick wall. We've been trying to get them to fix
this for years. The Office team doesn't seem to care; likewise, the Windows
Team doesn't seem to care if the default Mail Client gets hijacked by
Office/Outlook updates.

Microsoft Outlook updates change the default mail handler to Microsoft
Outlook

Tip: Assuming you don't use Outlook as a Mail Client, decline all Outlook &
Junk Mail Filter updates.
