Windows Update - did it again!

MSFT is, once again, unilaterally changing User's settings/configurations
with no notification!

Despite having TWICE previously configured Windows Update to download but
NOT install until it was told to, the pushed update this morning rebooted my
laptop in the middle of a phone conference with a client.

14 minutes later I finally got to use the computer again. Checking WU
settings showed they had, AGAIN, somehow been defaulted back to "automatic
installation".

The first time it was on me, today it was costly in time and money.

About time for some smart lawyer to start a website/class action ... I'm
ready to signup.

P*ssed!

i too have had this problem , i am sick to death of having to reset defaults
i.e window size, position of desktop icons (they just keep moving it's
driving me nuts )although my problems don't impact me as much as yours do you
i think it is a real problem for profesional people who rely on a stable os
for a living also i am not sure wether this is the same problem but i can't
seem to keep certain applications disabled at startup i use defender to
disable them but they keep on starting up at startup after i use them one
such culprit is nokia pc suit any thoughts?

Maybe the lawyer can also begin a class action lawsuit against whiny babies.
Sign up for that one too.

Turn off Auto Updates and remember that the second Tuesday of every
month is Redmond's Windows Update day and do it manually a few days
later after checking the Windows Updates newsgroups to make sure Redmond
hasn't put a buggy update out there.
