You know the drill. You get on windowsupdates.microsoft.com and it says
that it is now checking for available updates. Thing is, it doesn't come
back and tell you what the available updates are. It just sits there like a
big dummy.
I have browsed this newsgroup for answers and it appears that one must run
the
Regsvr32.exe command for 5 different .dll files to fix this problem. The 5
..dll's being:
wuapi.dll
wups.dll
wuaueng.dll
wucltui.dll
mscml3.dll
Can somebody explain what one is doing by executing these 5 commands?
What has happened in the first place that windows update is not working?
This seems to be a big problem, as I have worked on many pc's that exhibit
this symptom but I cannot for the life of me find any Microsoft tech
reference that talks about this problem.
