Windows Update does not function

Hello.
When trying to use Windows Update, it seems to be working fine (when it is
loading the website, etc.), and even downloads the required updates, but as
soon as it wants to install those updates, it unconditionally fails.

Within the contents of my windows update log file, I have found errors
8024000c and 80240020 are very common.

Is there any way to fix this problem?

(I am using XP Professional Service Pack 2).
