My Vista Home Premium 32 (OEM) does NOT "see" SP1
as a needed update yet. Is it still unofficial?

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation
from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates:

Something on the link below might be the reason it isn't showing up. Didn't
show up for me either even after removing some questionable drivers but I
did a manual download of the larger install package and the update went
fine.

Last night I updated using Windows Update, first I got a non-related patch.
Said no SP1.

7-8 minutes later it showed SP1 Available, I hit install and let it do its
thing. Slow download but worked. Only weird part is stage 2, I had 2
update windows running.

But seem running without issues and Computer->About shows SP1 installed.

Carey,

I, too, was under the impression that SP1 was not available via Windows
Update. However, I just checked for updates and there it is: ~62MB in size.
Do you have any idea why it has been released early? I haven't installed it
yet-- I think I'll wait awhile, first.

Thanks,

Dick

I was having trouble getting Windows update to provide SP1. I checked all the
drivers , etc. Then I found a small note in the SP1 deployment guide that
said the Windows update was having trouble scanning if a USB cable to a UPS
was plugged in. It suggested unplugging all USB cables. I did this , except
for my mouse and Windows update offered SP1 immediately.

It sucks if code requires a full moon, Jupiter aligns with Mars,
while I sacrifice my first born on my birthday.

With all the SP1 troubles I've been reading, I'll stay off it for
now.
