I have Windows 2000 Professional SP4 Operating System on my computer. In the
past Windows Update did work without any problems. However since the new
version of the Windows Update web site the initiation process of Windows
Update is permanently terminated with the error message code given in the
subject field above.

How can I overcome this problem?

best regards

I also have Windows 2000 Professional SP4 Operating System on my computer,
however I am getting the following message:
"Updates were unable to be successfully installed"
"The following updates were not installed:"
"Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)"

What can I do to resolve this issue?

I Just succussfully, i hope, repaired my Win 2k installation.
This took its update level back to service pack 2.
I downloaded and installed the SP4 update again successfully.
Now, when I invoke Windows Up Date to get the remainder of my updates I get

From the FAQ and Find Solutions, I decided it might be that I needed IE5.5
or 6.0
My attempts to download and install either results in my returning to the
Error Message immediately above.

I found similar problems by searching the site for "0x80070"
I hope one of us gets an answer and soon. I am a trumatic brain injury

I'm including my system info, because differences in hardware can make a big
difference in what works and what just misses the mark.
