windows update does not work

i have replaced hard disk in my pc (windows vista home premium). with
the old hard disk windows update was ok. with the new har disk windows
update does not work. some idea? thanks

What happens and\or what does the error say ??

Please try another attempt at updating. When/if it fails, copy and paste
the *last* 50 or so lines of the WindowsUpdate.log into your reply:

i have launched "fixwindowsupdate" and "microsoft fixit" but nothing.
services (windows update and BITS) are working.

Applications that are built on ESENT and that run on a Windows
Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer may not work correctly
after the reported physical sector size of the storage device changes

i have downloaded the hotfix, but when i launch the file (.msu), it
does not work and i see a window that sais (Itranslate from italian) :
"error during installation 0xc8000247". i think i shall format and
install windows 7. many thanks ciao
