i have downloaded and installed the network install of sp2 which appeared to
work ok. But now when i want to check for updates it says i have to install
the windows updates software to see the new updates and it gives me this
error at 60% registering, i have tried regsvr32 the 5 dll that everyone
talks about and they say they reg sucess, but still can't get the windows
update working,

Any other ideas greatly appreciated..

ps. i have seen people saying to do a repair with a slp stream cd( i have
one) just currious if someone tell me the full way to do a repair without
having to reinstall software.. please be detailed on steps..

I have exactly the same problem, except I get 100% registered, but still
nothing happens. I have read all sorts of fixes (scripts to run, files to
delete, turn off this, turn off that etc. etc) and tried every one of them,
but nothing works. I am tempted to re-instal Windows but suspect that the
moment I download SP2 the same thing will happen again. This is obviously
Microsoft's problem as it is quite widespread, but how the hell do you get
through to them?

It's not that easy but here is how I got through to a tech.

1)Went to windows update
2)Admisnistrator Options
3)Windows update Catalog
4)Get help and support
5)Request technical Support
6)Then fill out the Incident Form and wait for some to help you. You will
be assigned a case number.

My son downloaded SP2 and the computer will not stop rebooting. We gave the
tech the error code and we were told it will be 2-3 days before they could
get back to us. I'm have problems updateing three files since they changed
the windows update program. I have a tech also working on this. He wants me
to load SP2 now to see it that will fix it. Thats all I need both computers
not working.
