Windows Update download and Install FOLDER??

Hi all!!

I want to know if there is a "designated" folder where Windows Update
patches are downloaded and applied from...

My company is using a software that can restrict the folders software is
run / installed _FROM_, so I'd need to update the list of "allowed" dirs
to reflect the WU needs.

I've been doing some testing, and it looks like, when Windows Update
itself is updated (ie, when the Windows Update Agent is installed, as
it's the means I've used to do my testing), all downloads are sent to
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download, where there is a number of
directories that contain the different patches that are downloaded...

Is this correct, or the "install-from" dir is a different one? Is there
a way to configure the install-dir and download-dir? Can I get those
values using a script??

I'd really appreciate any help or insight as to the "internals" of
Windows Update workings....

The "install-from" dir is a different one. The updates creates a
temporary folder with a "random" name on the root of the fixed disk
with most free space.

I'm afraid you are not able to control/change the install-dir and
download-dir when using WU.

Not as far as I know.
