Windows Update Download Fails: 8024401f

Ok, like many I have a ISA2004 server which much allow user authentication.
I ran the proxycfg -u to pull my proxy settings which now display for
winHTTP. I did set up a rule to allow anonymous access just to the
recommended sites (from scenario 2 - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=885819
). I placed the rule at the top of the friewall. When I run WU it now gets to
the point of downloading the files and fails with error 8024401f.

I will add a seperate post to this thread with the output from
windowsupdate.log

The 8024410F are supposedly equivalent to HTTP 500 responses
from the remote server.

I think more interesting are the 800901F4 errors that you were also
getting. They mean that an HTTP request received a 404 response
Would your proxy interfere with the URL? Would it respond like that
on its own?

I think that you need to look at the proxy server and find out what it is
doing with the requests. You may be able to get a clearer idea of
what is happening just by taking a packet trace on the client but the
best point to trace would be at that intermediate server.
