Subject: Windows Update download window hangs
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 2004 08:41:03 -0700
I am running Windows ME and when I try to update the download window
appears but never starts. I tried the solution in troubleshooter which
was...
Run: regsvr32 msscript.ocx, regsvr32 dispex.dll, regsvr32 vbscript.dll,
and regsvr32 scrrun.dll
These are successful except regsvr32 msscript.ocx which gives this error:
Load library("mscript.ocx") failed.
Get lasterror returns 0x00000485
Please help.
P.s. I also can't print off web pages, I see from the troubleshooter this
may be related
Hi Pepi,
I did find an article for the mscript.ocx, however if the DLL is dependant
on another file
that is busy when you try and re-register this may be the cause.

Since IE is now so integrated into the browser there is a specific DLL that
has not been correctly
registered in either Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer.
This is how we fix this.
Action Plan

1. open "wordpad"
2. copy this text (below) into the "wordpad"
3. save the "wordpad" file as "IEreg.bat" to your desktop and then "double
click" to launch
