windows update it downloads the updates but doesnt install

every time i go to windows update it downloads the updates but doesnt install
them it says they failed. but how i can i install them as i have a large
amount that has built up now to install. it wont allow me to install anything
from windows update or update any thing from windows defender

i am on xp sp3. im not on any shared network or stuff like that.

i got one error from window defender 0x80004002. try to get it to update

Thanks, this was just what I needed as I had to make a re-intallation. Took
me a while to figure out Method 2 as the .exe file doesn't make itself
manifest when trying to run the program.

amazing, thank you, i was puzzling over this.

Hi guys. Am having same trouble as above but have tried all of the on of
start stop instructions and yet only the office updates will not install. All
xp updates do.
