Windows update error 0xC8000586

Has anyone been getting this error after the scan completes on the windows
update site. P.S.-The old version V4 of windows update worked fine till the
V5 was introduced. I have SP-2 Installed and everything else works fine, just
get error message after scan has completed on site.

Hi,

The Windows Update client database on your computer is corrupt, probably due
to a power disruption.

Here's how you can resolve the problem.

In a command prompt, run the following lines

net stop wuauserv
rd %windir%\softwaredistribution\datastore /s /q
net start wuauserv

Note that by doing the above, the installation history of updates on the
computer will be lost.

Can you please reply back to confirm whether there was a recent power
disruption?

Soy español pero no se cómo escribir esto para España, perdonar mi ignorancia.
Yo tengo el mismo error en windows update pero no entiendo la solución que
da Daniel, ya que no entiendo nada de Ingles.
