Windows Update error 80070643 (not MS Office related!)

I am getting the Windows Update error 80070643 when I try to install the new
Ultimate extra 'Microsoft Tinker' on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit system.

The only references to this error I can find all point to a problem with
Microsoft Office, which I do not have installed at all. I do not have the
Office Source Engine service, or the Ose.exe file file.

MSKB article 903772 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903772) is thus not
applicable to my system at all.

I have not had any problems installing other updates, and on my laptop
system (Vista Home 32-bit) this same update installed without problems.

Of course it doesn't. It's all about updating Office 2003. There is
nothing there about Microsoft Tinker. You should have looked further
down the list on Google.

Do you even read what you reply to??

WTF does getting an error while installing Office 2007 have to do with
the OP's problem?

ESPECIALLY since the OP specifically said that Office is NOT
installed?
