I tried searching for resolution on this issue and found no post with actual
fix but work around.
I have my laptop networked to my desktop through crossover accessing the net
via internet gateway. Yea, too cheap to buy a router. Actually, I am waiting
for my ISP to send me my password to have my router access the net for all
networked PCs. Until then I am using all resources available to sustain.
My trouble:
Trying to update the laptop but keep getting the error. Clicked on trouble
shoot and it said to supply credentials but it never asks. Also clicked to
update Java and it provided some better detail. It said my PC is connected
through proxy and the settings need to be updated to allow updates to pass
through the proxy.
How does this work? I didn't know I had a proxy server let alone how to
manage settings. All I know about proxys are they are a better product to
manage blocks for networks, or am I totally lost in this subject?
