Windows Update error code 80073712

I get a windows update message to install 2 important updates, but when it
tries to install I get error code 80073712. Searched help and could not find
anything about this error code. Can anyone tell me what this error code means?

80073712 - ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT.

Windows Update file corruption.

Delete the file pending.xml under C:\windows\winsxs

and/or


Reinstall the Windows Update Agent

A new version of the Windows Update Agent is available
