Windows update error code 8024402c

Whenever I try to access windows update in vista it starts checking for
updates but after a few minutes it comes up with a message saying

Windows could not search for new updates
error(s) found:
Code 8024402c

Would anybody now how to fix this problem?

If connected directly to the Internet or to a home network -

Open Internet Explorer and click the Tools menu, select Internet Options, click the
Connections tab and now click LAN settings.

Under Automatic configuration, select the Automatically detect settings check box, and
then click OK.

You may receive a "0x8024402C" error message when you scan for updates on the Windows

Jimbo,

I also had problems with updating Vista )and Vista SPI.
I solved the problem by downloading and installing this fix:
