Windows update error solution

I tried every method in knowledge base as well as in forums, all failed to
solve the problem of Windows update error. When I do it manually downloading
the updates the installation is succesfull. Can anyone give an accurate
solution for this error.

You want an accurate solution for your error yet you provide no details, for example what
error are you receiving, what operating system are you using etc.

Without accurate information, you cannot expect an accurate solution.

How to view the Update log in Windows

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log
and then click OK.

Scroll down towards the bottom for the latest entries to locate the error code(s)
associated with the latest failed attempt to download/install. If appropriate copy and
paste the error codes into this thread so someone may be able to assist you. On the other
hand, you may be able to find the error code and other suggestions by searching the
Newsgroup.

Also check Windows folder for file called KB******.log (****** = number of update ie
KB896688) and post the contents of the failed update.
This may provide further clues as to why the update failed.

I am having this same error. Please help me fix this error. On a Windows XP
Pro SP/2 computer. Here is
some of the content of the windowsupdate.log you referred to. I have tried
to find the solution on the MS website but have so far been unsuccessful. If
you need more info from my log, please let me know. Thanks for taking the
time to help me. This problem is happening on several computers in my
organization.
