Hi everyone,

I have been having a problem with windows updates for 3 weeks now.
everytime I click on windows update and it opens MS Windows update site
after that it displays (checking if you have got the latest version of
windows update)
it give me an error (ERROR CODE: 0X80072EFE)
THE WEBSITE HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND CAN NOT DISPLAY THE PAGE.

It's windows 2000 Small Business Server.

Any one help please.

M.B.,

I am having a similar issue at a customers site on Win2000 Server. I ran
Windows Update on Tuesday and did not pay attention to exactly which
update(s) was/were made, but after reboot I can no longer use IE. I
downloaded and installed Firefox which works fine. But I cannot access
anything with IE. One other thing, if I go to Tools - Internet Options -
Connections, IE will lock up on me. Same if I go to Control Panel - Internet
Options - Connections.

What to do??

I had the same problem. I was able to do a temporary fix by reinstalling
ie6setup.exe file. I also installed IE6.0sp1-KB871260-x86-ENU.exe. After
you install it will say you need critical updates again.

Note: I choose not to reinstall until I get a response back from Microsoft.
I figure it will cause the same problem again since I had already
uninstalled the patches and when I reinstalled them (after fixing the problem
the first time) it broke the Windows update page again.

Hope this will help until a permanent solution is found.

Anybody get an answer or solution for this problem. I have 3 SBS 2000 boxes
doing the same thing. While others work fine, none of the KB solutions seem
to work.

Stefan....
