As you state, your computer isn't protected so I'm inclined to think that
you may have a hijackware infection.

I've copied this posting from PA Bear specially the part about dealing with
a possible infection.

"Error when you download updates using Windows Update or Microsoft Update:

However, there is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of
a hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx

2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be):
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

Did the scan and everything is ok but still can not install, still the same
error and still my McAfee is disabled... This is a new computer by the way i
just built it not even a month ago. But everything was fine up intill i
installed a update that continuely looped. you know the 3 out of 3 0% vista
loop. I had no restore points so i had to go in the command prompt and delete
C:windows/winsxs/pending.xml or something like that just to by pass that
update, thats all i did and now im having all these problems.

Please post a link to your thread in the forum you selected in Step #3 of
TaurArian's post, Anthony.

Have you opened a free support incident yet?

Is McAfee Security Center a freebie from your ISP? When did you install it,
before or after you started having problems?
