Hi,

Does anyone know how to get from the system event log message from windows
update back to the actual update that was applied?

I'm trying to track down the following one:

UpdateID={04DD4730-F7BF-4702-B63A-08C389A7E718}

Thanks
Paul

Note the time/date in system event log then compare to windowsupdate.log.

How to read the Windowsupdate.log file:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=902093

did check this but oddly the windowsupdate.log file only contains two lines...

2005-08-29 12:33:05 02:33:05 Success IUCTL Starting
2005-08-29 12:33:05 02:33:05 Success IUCTL Shutting down

both from ages ago the event was from 2006-02-09?

I suspect you're looking in windows_update.log (notice the space), not
windowsupdate.log, Paul.
