Windows Update Failure after SP3 install

I'm getting a failure on subsequent updates, with an error code of 0x80004002
in the update log file. I've tried the suggestion of registering wuapi.dll,
wups.dll, wusueng.dll, wucltui.dll and MSXML3.dll but this did not help.
This is on a fresh install of XP Pro, following installation of SP3 and then
one more set of updates. Last update was for KB951698. Also in that update
batch was updates for KB951376 and KB950762. There have been no problems
installing applications, but the Office 2007 updates are also failing. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

CrystalBall© sez...

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft
Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP
installation:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144

NB: Also applies to clean installs, upgrade installs, and Recovery installs.

FYI... I had the same problem on a brand new Dell computer after installing
SP3 and some other updates after just opening the new computer. PA Bear's
suggestion fixed it perfectly! Thanks so much for the help!!!!
