I have been unsuccessful installing the automatic critical updates this month
on my Windows 2000 SP4 computer. For countless months before now, it's worked
fine. In Windows Update.log, it appears to download OK, but then during
installation it fails and says to check iuhist.xml. In that file, I see the
error code -2147024768. Not sure where to research that. However, I decided
to manually install them after downloading from Windows Catalog. Got the same
error message for all of them - it's missing a DLL: PSAPI.DLL. Why would this
be missing? And how do I get it back? I searched my hard drive, and the only
place it exists on my computer is in my anti-virus program's directory, but I
checked the properties and the version is from NT4. How strange. Ideas for
the best solution?
