Windows Update hangs in Win2k SP4

Hi everybody,

Windows Update hangs in a Win2K SP4 machine... It does not show a word in
the explorer... :S

I'd like to uninstall Windows Update (or whatever...) and download it again,
the latest version...

Hint: I've noticed that "Automatic Updates" services cannot start... the
command for the service is:
svchost -k wugroup

Can anybody help me?

Cannot remember who gave me the URL or know why the secure
(or "https") link works while the straight-forward URL does
not.
