Don't feel bad, seems to be a common issue among hundreds of problems
associated with the release of sp2. Mine reads error message 807043B for
with there are no related articles to at least trouble shoot from. In
despiration I have tried some that were closely related but no luck, even
running a sfc /scannow to check on the integrity of some of system files
brings up insert sp2 disk which oddly enough was done from a download, so go
figure. There has got to be a better alternative to such a strange rollout
of a desperately needed product.

Download the full network install of 266 MB or get a free CD. They are
available at a variety of outlets like Staples and attached to the cover
of many current PC magazines. Or order the free CD from MS. Delivery
is usually within a week.

I did not even install SP2, I buypassed it due to the firewall issues. I only
tried to do all the normal required installs. The downloads seemed to hang
and when I re-connect I get the error you got. tried a couple of fixes in the
Update troubleshooter but they didn't help. the only alternative they left me
with was to go to system restore and go back to an earlier version and try
again.

sounds like you have firewall blocking it...not sure what program you use but
Norton Internet Security will give you that error. Try turning it off before
you have the update page check your computer for necessary updates. I did
that and the update was fine afterwards.

Note that the text quoted below is from the Windows Update v5 Trouble
shouter Web site, in this link:

When searching for available updates on the Windows Update site, you
see the 0x8007043B error
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...cleid=19&ln=en

For a VBScript that does what the article in the link above describes,
take a look here (just put the VBScript code in a file and run it by
double clicking on it):
