I'm trying to free up disk space and wondered if I update to Windows XP SP"2"
do I need to keep the previous XP Hotfixes that currently show up when I run
"add/remove programs" from the Control Panel. At this point, I don't even
have enough disk space to install SP2 and hoping I can 'remove' all update
hotfixes to make room for SP2 - am i making any sense?!

Thanks!

Sp-2 will replace almost all if not all of those.
Disconnect the computer from the network then uninstall the updates.
Follow this:

Step 7 on this link may help:

Then follow the Service Pack Installation checklist:

But your real problem is a small hard drive.
Consider getting another hard drive and/or deleting data and uninstalling
unneeded programs.

This is great news, thanks!
Yes, my drive is definately an issue and I'm actively trying to remove
programs and unwanted files.

Can you recommend any freeware or shareware disk cleaners other than the one
that is part of Windows? (i.e., SmartCleaner, QuickClean, etc.)

Thanks again for your help.

I just tried to remove the Hotfixes and I get a message that lists about 20
programs that may not work if I remove the Hotfix. Aaaaack! Now what?!

Usually that is not an issue and the programs still work properly.
Go ahead and uninstall the updates.
Worst case is you MAY need to install one or more applications.
