RE: There are no updates available at this time message
after running the scan and the "Windows" text is greyed out

I Have tried this to fix my problem but it still grayed
out.

I have Windows 98 SE 4.10.2222 A.

When I click on the 'Welcome' hyperlink on the Windows
Update page I get: Send error number to Microsoft
(0x800A138F)

I can not find any help for this code.

It use to work awhile back I then installed some programs
to optimizer/clean out programs and ever since then I have
never been able to get this working again. Even after
uninstalling theses programs.

Any Help would be great.

Cheers

Nick

But you haven't wasted my time at all, in fact I'd like to
commend you for hammering away at your problem and posting
some relevent facts about it - namely the last error code
0x800C0008. That code is not about languages but rather
secure site problems. Take a look at these and see if
anything helps. Thanks.

Secure site problems

And from another thread----
the problem was in my advanced proxy settings. checking
the "use the same proxy server for all protocols" box
allowed me to access secure sites and solved the problem.

Secure sites must work in order to access WU, your error
code states that you have a problem with secure sites.
Therefore WU won't work for you until you fix the problem
you have with accessing secure sites.
