Windows update icon not going anywhere

Hi there, I have windows XP Pro running and im having an issue with
the auto update icon in my task bar not going away!!!

I have all the downloads available (except SP2), but the icon just
sits there and says 'Downloading Updates:0%' and does absolutely
nothing else no matter what I try and do.

Its very, very annoying!! Can anyone shed any light on this for me???

Hi, I was having the same problem as you so I was reading through a few pages
to help me and I found a thread on page thread so I'm gonna give the
instructions.
Go to Run and type in:
service.msc
go to Automatic Updates
right click on it then click stop

It should move
