IE 6.0.3900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.05301-1519
WinXP Pro SP2

Hi, I am restoring a computer from the ground up after a primary hard disk
failure.

With Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta turned off and Norton AV 2006 turned off
and Internet Download Manager turned off, I can, after a fresh boot, get to
the Windows Update page with IE and have successfully downloaded SP2 for XP
Pro.

With the programs mentioned above active at boot, even if I disable them
after boot, going to the main Windows Update page results in a frozen IE
(Windows Update content does not even load) which appears as "running" in
the process manager but does not respond to window re-size or close commands
and is completely non-interactive with the mouse. I have to manually kill IE
to continue.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Orpheus

Check the WindowsUpdate.log in the WINDOWS directory for possible clues.
It may be that NAV's script blocker is not allowing scripting from WU.
Temp disable the script blocking component to see if that's the cause of
the issue, Orpheus.
