Windows Update installation failed

Recently the latest pack of updates is failing to install and is now in a
loop attempting to load each day. After failure, I receive

9 Automatic updates failed.

Security Update for Microsoft Publisher 2002 (KB950129)
Security Update for Microsoft Office XP (KB953405)
Security Update for Microsoft Office XP (KB921596)
Security Update for Office XP (KB920816)
Security Update for SharePoint Team Services (KB911701)
Update for Office XP (KB913471)
Security Update for Office XP (KB944423)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2002 (KB956464)
Security Update for Microsoft Word 2002 (KB956329)

This is my first problem involving Windows Update.

Thinking it may have been conficker, I ran the Malicious Software Removal
tool, with no malware found.

I attempted to install from the windows updates site, with no success.

I am running XP 5.1, SP3

I'm also having a problem installing
Security Update for Microsoft Office XP (KB921596)
