This is the first update from service pack 2, the update that allows you to
recieve the other updates. I think it's the active update installer program.
I get the first one Installed no problem, but the second one keeps freezing
at 10,27,55,76%...it's different every time I run it. I did it once before,
and it took like 50 times before it made it to 100%.

The error I get is [Error number: 0x80072EE2]
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. The options

Which is BS cuz it's a clean install...and it makes it to a different
percentage each time, and works once in 100 times. If I do it again, it
makes it...but I want it to work on a single attempt. I read all the
remedies, but I don't see why any of them would affect me since it's a brand
new install...and it starts installing, just freezes part way through and
then gives me the error!

Help!!!!

I seem to have something like the same problem. I think my automatic up
dates are working O.K. but when I try to update manually, I get the very same
message"Web Page has encountered a problem etc" but error message is listed
as
Ox802400iD. I cannot locate this error number in any of the sources, it
does not appear lto be listed.

0x8024001D -2145124323 WU_E_INVALID_UPDATE
an update had bogus metadata

1. Close all open programs. On the Start/Run line enter:

net stop wuauserv
Click OK
2. Delete the .\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. You will lose your
MU History, but that really isn't a major loss.
3. On the Start/Run line enter:

net start wuauserv
Click OK
4. On the Start/Run line enter, :

regsvr msxml3.dll
Click OK
5. On the Start/Run line enter:

regsvr softpub.dll
Click OK
6. Open Control Panel, then Internet Options. On the General tab click
"Delete Files..." and then mark the option to delete offline content.
