Every time I run Windows Update, the process installs a "Launch IE" shortcut
in my Quick Launch.

I DO NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL!!!!

There is absolutely no good reason I can think of why this step is needed or
necessary.

Please remove that part of the procedure.

Thanks!

Hmmmm, thanks for the quick AND AFFIRMATIVE response!

Of course, I guess I have to wait many weeks (months?) before the change is
made.

1) "Start->Window update" on my computer (98SE), the system just
freeze 10 sec, nothing happens.
2) Use CTRL+ALT+DEL, see "wnupdmgr" was there for couple seconds.

any advice? thx!
(NOW for window upgrade, i use
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp directly)

Hi "WSL",

Thanks for the response!

Not sure what answer 1) means. Maybe you were answering someone else's
problem and accidentally included it with mine???

As for answer 2): My Windows Update shortcut takes me to:
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us
When I copied and pasted your recommended URL:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp
It automatically redirected me to the first one above:
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsu....aspx?ln=en-us
So I would be willing to bet that your normal shortcut does the same thing
on your system.
