Nocturnal - I have the same exact problem and nobody seems to know the answer.
I have windows 2000 Pro completely patched and have never, ever even had 1
piece of spyware on my computer, so I dont think that has anything to do with
this problem. I use Norton corporate as my virus protection and Zone Alarm.
Other than that - I have nothing running and keep everything in great shape.
Windows update has worked great until this new version and now donwloads and
the install immediately fails. I am tired of hearing the administrator and
rights answer because there is only I account on my PC which is the admin
account so that isnt the problem. This seems like such and easy fix and we
just need somebody who knows what the new version of windowsupdate is
checking that that older version did not.
