According to the Windows Update "Installation History", KB 842773 has been
installed successfully more than 30 times on my computer. Yet when I click on
Software in Configuration, this update does not appear.
What's more, I keep getting the same reminder message that the update is now
ready to be installed.
What can I do to:
a) install the update?
b) get rid of this annoying message?

Hi,
Please post the C:\windows\KB842773.log file as attachment.
Also, please check the file versions of qmgr.dll, xpob2res.dll and
winhttp.dll in c:\windows\system32 dir and let us know the results.

Hi,
Please copy and paste the contents of KB842773.log into the post. You can
add attachments if you use Outlook express or some other NNTP utility to
read the posts.

In explorer, please open c:\windows\system32 dir
Following is the procedure to find the file versions of qmgr.dll,
winhttp.dll and xpob2res.dll
Locate the file in the dir, right-click and select Properties
Select the Version tab
This will show the file version.

Please send the file versions of qmgr.dll, winhttp.dll and xpob2res.dll (if
it exists).

Also, please copy and paste the "View installation history" page from your
Windows Update history.
