You may have the same problem but you're not running the same machine,
Screwy.
KB896727 applies to WinME machines but it's *only* available for WinME
machines via Windows Update. The file obtained using the link Carey posted
earlier may *only* be used on WinXP and Win2K machines running IE6 SP1.
In Windows Explorer, search for (WinKey+F) this file: BROWSEUI.DLL. If it's
version 6.0.2800.1692, you already have KB896727 installed.
Have you tried temporarily disabling your antivirus application, closing
*all* other windows and then going to Windows Update
(
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) to install KB896727 and any other
Critical Updates? If the problem persists, at what point does it "freeze",
during the download, during installation?
As I asked in my other reply to you, what other problems have you been
having with the machine recently?
